How it works

MicroCurrent Technology is the only aesthetic treatment available that can physically firm and tone the skin through muscle re-education. This process of a gentle re-education’ of the fine facial muscles stimulates them with very small amounts of electricity. MicroCurrent is a specific amount of electricity that mirrors the body’s own natural current and works in harmony with the body’s electrical system. By reproducing the body’s own biological current we can re-establish muscle memory naturally. Muscle re-education is most related to the term “facial toning”. A micro current facial is gentle, relaxing, and painless, with no recovery time. The face is cleansed, and collagen/elastin serum applied to the skin. Cotton-tipped contact wands are carefully placed over acupressure points, transmitting painless micro currents to stimulate the underlying muscles. The face and neck are then gently stroked in specific motions to tone the muscles, firm the skin and ionize nutrients deep into the cells of the skin. The microcurrent facial device is applied to key muscles and skin tissues to stimulate movements and give the muscles a “mini workout”. This helps to tone and tighten the muscles over a short period of time, and may prevent many signs of the aging process such as wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin from forming. It is considered to be a facial ‘sculpting’ procedure without causing injury to the dermis – the technique used in laser treatments, Thermage skin tightening and deep chemical peels. 

Microcurrent seems to be uniquely effective in rebuilding thinner parts of the skin, filling in wrinkles and lifting sagging muscles because of its ability to regenerate tissue by stimulating cellular physiology and growth.  Research has shown that lower intensities up to 0.5 microampere are the most effective in restoring normal metabolism and homeostasis. Recent microcurrent studies from the University of Washington has shown a 14% increase in the production of natural collagen, a 48% increase in natural elastin production, and 38% increase in blood circulation over the course of 20 days.
